Respiratory/Circulatory System

Respiratory System
  • Air enters through the grotis
  • The trachea takes the oxygen to the lungs
  • All sea turtles have multi-chambered lungs
  • Under certain circumstances can use anaerobic for long periods of time
  • The turtle can also take very quick breathes
  •  These adaptations help for deep diving
Circulatory System
  • Three chambered heart
    • Right auricle
    • Left auricle
    • Ventricle
  • Arteries
    • Take blood away from heart
  • Veins
    • Take blood to the heart
  • Path of the Blood
    • Deoxygenated blood flows into the right auricle
    • It then contracts and blood flows into the ventricle
    • The ventricle then forces it into the lungs where the gas exchange takes place
    • Then the oxygenated blood goes to the left auricle which contracts and sends blood out to the body
