Respiratory/Circulatory System
Respiratory System
- Air enters through the grotis
- The trachea takes the oxygen to the lungs
- All sea turtles have multi-chambered lungs
- Under certain circumstances can use anaerobic for long periods of time
- The turtle can also take very quick breathes
- These adaptations help for deep diving
Circulatory System
- Three chambered heart
- Right auricle
- Left auricle
- Ventricle
- Arteries
- Take blood away from heart
- Veins
- Path of the Blood
- Deoxygenated blood flows into the right auricle
- It then contracts and blood flows into the ventricle
- The ventricle then forces it into the lungs where the gas exchange takes place
- Then the oxygenated blood goes to the left auricle which contracts and sends blood out to the body
